Home-grown poke pioneer Poke Theory will be opening its largest outlet to date at Telok Ayer, returning to its roots where Co-Founders Joey Lee and Vannessa Lee first set up its shop in 2016. The new store officially opens its doors on 17th July 2023, marking the concept’s 14th outlet in Singapore. The launch of the new store will be accompanied by a refreshed menu, featuring new nutritious components to spruce up every poke bowl. Curated following rounds of research and development based on customers’ feedback over six months, the concept’s elevated menu brings a wider variety of protein options for sashimi and non-sashimi lovers alike. These include seasonal crowd favourite samsui ginger chicken transitioning into a permanent menu item, and the introduction of marinated tempeh for vegan diners.

“The opening of our largest store marks another significant milestone in Poke Theory’s journey. After we said goodbye to the first little shophouse outlet along Telok Ayer in 2020, we could not forget the district where we first established Poke Theory and all the support we received from the friendly faces in the neighbourhood. I look forward to seeing diners enjoying our delicious and colourful Poke Bowls within the Telok Ayer once again,” says Co-Founder and Brand Director Vannessa Lee.

The restaurant spans over 1,500 square feet with 104 indoor seats. With the chain’s signature poke counter featuring a rainbow assortment of fresh ingredients within its chic, sleek and minimalistic interiors, diners can look forward to a refreshing dining experience. A new merchandise wall has also been added for those who want to bring a literal piece of Poke Theory home with them. With the new outlet conveniently located at the heart of the CBD and being MUIS Halal- certified1, Poke Theory remains committed to providing healthy meal options made accessible to all. The new store will feature the iconic Poke Theory sauce bar, which has also made its comeback in all other outlets with complimentary condiments and free-flow sauces for customers looking to add even more flavour to their poke bowls.

Refreshed, Nutritionally Elevated Flavours

Poke Theory’s refreshed menu includes new options of signature bowls, proteins, toppings, garnishes and a renewed salad base, allowing diners with varying taste preferences to enjoy bolder flavours and more nutrition in greater value-for-money2 poke bowls. “Since Poke Theory’s inception, we have been gathering sentiments from diners. Over the last few months, we have gone through numerous stages of research and development on how we can change things up to deliver the best flavours and nutrition in our bowls,” says Co-Founder and Managing Director, Joey Lee. “The menu has been redesigned with our customer’s feedback and needs in mind. We will continue to keep our ear on the ground and stay committed to serving up delicious and healthy rainbow bowls."

Exciting flavours await those who seek sashimi alternatives and a higher protein fix in their poke bowls. Poke Theory regulars who enjoyed the seasonal crowd favourite samsui-flavoured chicken are in for a delight, as the protein cements its position on the new menu as a year round staple. Vegan diners can look forward to a greater source of protein as the go-to avocado for vegan poke bowls will be replaced with protein-rich tempeh which is marinated in a flavourful spicy, salty and sweet dark soy sauce blend, packing the punch of umami that Poke Theory fans are familiar with. Co-Founders Joey and Vannessa have curated two new signature bowls, Samsui Chica ($11.90) and Tempeh-tress ($11.90) that spotlight the delectable samsui ginger chicken and umami tempeh respectively.

Curated for a burst of flavour and kept with gym-goers in mind, some toppings of the Samsui Chica include cajun sweet potato, lime avocado and egg whites, while the Tempeh-tress will delight the palettes of vegan eaters with a sweet and tangy combination: pomegranate, pickled green chillis, and smoked almonds. The signature bowls are only available in the Regular size. With a total of 18 toppings (13 basic, 5 premium) for selection, Poke Theory is bringing a variety of new toppings to its customers which includes corn salsa and pickled green chillis that will satiate localised taste palates, while the crowd-favourite ikura will also be introduced as a premium topping. Aside from toppings, new garnishes including fried shallot and garlic granules will be introduced, bringing garnish options from three to five.

Poke bowl enthusiasts can enjoy new sizes for their Build your Own Poke Bowl (BYOB) option. The light (from $9.90, previously $11.50) and regular (from $11.90, previously $14.50) bowls are inclusive of a non-sashimi protein option, bringing more cost savings to those who seek cooked or vegan protein options. The light bowl will entitle diners to 5 toppings and up to 2 garnishes, while this increases to 7 toppings and 2 garnishes for the regular. Each bowl size will also be relatively larger than previous bowls, creating more space for diners to mix up their poke bowls for a smoother dining experience. Poke Theory is bringing more beverage options on board through a partnership with Remedy Sodaly, a sugar-free and gut friendly prebiotics drink made with all natural ingredients, allowing Poke Theory diners a healthy drink option that pairs well with their food. The flavours Guava, Passionfruit, Lemon Lime Bitters will be available at the new store, priced at $4 each.

Poke Theory’s refreshed menu will be introduced exclusively at the new Telok Ayer store in line with its launch, before being rolled out across all Poke Theory outlets islandwide in a couple of months.
