Once you have kids, a long lazy Sunday brunch is often a thing of the past. With more limited child-minding options on Sundays we tend to try to find the few and far between Saturday brunches or eagerly look for an option that also entertains the kids.
Miss Fitz at The Sail has come up trumps with the ultimate kid-friendly brunch concept – DJ lessons in their hidden bar Roxy, while the parents dine in peace at Miss Fitz!
The DJ lessons are designed for kids aged between six and twelve years old and over 45 minutes cover the basics of DJ-ing by resident DJ I.M.X. All the fancy gear is provided so your future DJs will get a hands on spin on the turn tables and for $35++ (including a soft drink) it’s excellent value for a unique kids afternoon. My boys aged 8 and 6 thoroughly enjoyed the experience and have already asked when their next lesson will be.
For the adults, a leisurely lunch is guaranteed in the attached Miss Fitz bar and restaurant. The brunch menu is a la carte and offers a superb range of casual Mediterranean options including Avocado Toast with tomatoes, feta, pomegranate, poached egg and sourdough or the Spanish Tortilla with three eggs, potatoes, baby spinach, cilantro and sour cream.
Parents can easily elevate their brunch experience with a three hour free flow brunch package at $68++ which includes a range of quality wines, spirits and beers. For those in a celebratory mood, Delamotte champagne can be included for an additional $48++. Special a la carte brunch cocktails are on offer as well with the refreshing Lemon Spritz a hot favourite along with the classic Aperol Spritz.
Hungry DJs are well catered for on the food front and all ours wolfed down their bacon and egg breakfast sandwiches.
We found this was a great experience to enjoy with a group of friends and their kids – a perfect spot to eat, drink and be merry while you can be assured your kids are happily entertained.
