One of the simply stunning things about living in Singapore is the city skyline, especially at night. Those restaurants and bars that have unrivalled views always have a bit of an edge when it comes to special occasions and showcasing our city to out of town visitors.

Of course, the only drawback of these spectacular views is the often hefty price tag associated with the meal or cocktails. The Lounge at Riviera has this problem solved by splitting their restaurant space into two different concepts – Riviera and The Lounge at Riviera.

The Lounge at Riviera comes with all the suave and sophistication of the restaurant and those same incredible floor to ceiling views of the marina – however the menu is far more accessible pricewise with fabulous sharing platters based on their top quality Mediterranean fare. A perfect destination for a more casual, yet still refined dinner with family, colleagues or friends.

The Lounge At Riviera

We commenced our meal with the divine Riviera Platter – a delicious combination of half a dozen Fin de Claire oysters, an utterly delicious Smoked Cod Tarama dip served with potato blinis, a Dorade Royal Tarter with ginger dressing and generous slices of Beetroot-Cured Smoked Salmon. An amazing selection of fine seafood all for a very reasonable $88++.

An exceptional and unique dish was the Eschabeche, wild-caught red mullet pickled and served with their house-made crunchy sourdough bread and mustard ($28++). This was followed by our first hot starter, the Moroccan Briouates, Riviera’s moreish take on samosas done Moroccan style with pastilla dough, ricotta di percora, spinach, onion tfaya and slightly spicy arrabbiata sauce ($18++).

The Lounge At Riviera

Our main was an utterly tender and delicious Tagines Makfoul which can be ordered for 2 or 4 people. Slow-cooked grass-fed lamb shank is atop silky lamb jus-coated barley and almond ($48/78++).

To finish, the pastry chef’s impeccable skills were showcased via the Pina Colada Cheesecake ($18++), three delicious bites of light coconut mousse atop vanilla crunchy sable dough and adorned with chamomile infused pineapple.

The services was as always impeccable, the wines excellent and there is even a full cocktail bar in the lounge for those who prefer a more creative concoction.

The Lounge at Riviera is a fabulous, relaxed yet sophisticated concept offering delicious Mediterranean dishes that are just perfect for sharing with your group or evening date. And of course, don’t forget about those world-class views when you are truly looking to impress.
