As the festive season approaches, the Orchard Road Business Association (ORBA) is introducing an exciting new program to commemorate Singapore's rich cocktail culture. This one-of-a-kind program, called "ORBar on A Great Street," enables cocktail fans and visitors to savour specially prepared signature beverages at exclusive rates along Singapore's famed Orchard Road. This cocktail event will take place from November 1, 2024 to January 31, 2025, and will provide patrons with the opportunity to sample inventive cocktails at some of Singapore's most well-known bars.

The ORBar Passport, a tailored cocktail experience, is at the centre of this program, allowing passport holders to pre-select four of the eight participating bars and enjoy two orders of a signature cocktail each. Early bird passes will be available for purchase from October 1 to 31, 2024 at a discounted rate of $109, saving up to 55% on select cocktails. After the early bird period, the price will rise to $138, and both rates include GST. For those wishing to broaden their tasting experience, an All-Rounder Passport is also available, which includes 16 cocktails and two signature beverages at each of the eight establishments.

The ORBar program includes famous bars such as Atelier Lounge & Bar at Pullman Singapore Orchard, Bar Intermezzo at Orchard Hotel Singapore, and Café Quenino at Artyzen Singapore. The ORBar Passport has signature cocktails such as Atelier Lounge & Bar's Smoky Negroni, a bold variation on the classic Negroni, and Café Quenino's Ondeh-Ondeh, which is inspired by a popular local confection. This event not only displays Singapore's cocktail ingenuity, but also the city's dedication to promoting sustainability and local flavours.

ORBar on A Great Street, supported by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), cements Singapore's reputation as Asia's cocktail capital, with bars that have appeared on global rankings such as Asia's 50 Best Bars and The World's 50 Best Bars. This passport allows locals and tourists to explore the vibrant cocktail culture on Orchard Road, which is home to many inventive, globally recognised bars.

Orchard Road, Singapore's iconic shopping belt, will transform into a cocktail lover's paradise. The Orchard Road Business Association (ORBA) is launching 'ORBar on A Great Street', a three-month cocktail extravaganza that promises to add a splash of excitement to your evening plans. I had the pleasure of embarking on this liquid journey ahead of its official kick-off. Let me take you through this mixology experience set to become the talk of the town.

From November 1, 2024, to January 31, 2025, cocktail aficionados and curious bar hoppers can indulge in a curated selection of eight signature cocktails at participating bars along Orchard Road. The masterstroke? An ORBar drink 'passport' that serves as your ticket to this boozy adventure. Early birds can grab the passport for a steal at $109 for eight drinks at four selected bars or go all out with the All-Rounder at $218 for 16 cocktails across all eight participating venues. You're getting top-shelf tipples at these prices at a fraction of their usual cost.

My cocktail crawl kicked off at the chic Ginger.Lily in Hilton Singapore Orchard. Here, seasoned Head Mixologist Mike Mendoza has crafted the Luminous Insight, a gin-based concoction that's as intriguing as it sounds. But what really sets this place apart is its innovative use of edible perfumes. I opted for the 'Summer' scent, which added a playful pina colada twist to my drink. It's not just a cocktail; it's a multi-sensory experience. The wine is further aged for a month in unique bamboo. Bamboo aging is like barrel aging but in bamboo segments, specially made for the Ginger.Lily bar.

Next stop: Atelier Lounge and Bar at Pullman Singapore Orchard. Their Smoky Negroni quickly became my favourite of the night. Take a classic negroni elevated with a torched, sugar-glazed orange wedge and the rich aroma of charred oak chips. The result is a bold, smoky profile perfect for those like me who like our drinks with a bit of attitude. Pair it with their Crunchy Prawns, and you've got yourself a match made in happy hour heaven. A bit of bar theatre is involved with the smoke and wood chips, and it simply adds to this unique bar experience.

Café Quenino at Artyzen Singapore was next on the list, where I met the bearded mixologist extraordinaire, Sathya Selan. His Ondeh-Ondeh cocktail is a love letter to local flavours, blending pandan-infused vodka with fresh coconut toddy. The glass rim, adorned with dried coconut crumble and gula melaka crystals, is a liquid nod to the beloved local dessert. Don't miss their Otak Prawn Toast –the perfect sidekick to this tropical tipple. The Toddy was a revelation for me, and just on its own, made for a refreshing pick-me-up during the warm and humid afternoon. You may also want to check out their flagship restaurant, Quenino by Victor Liong, helmed by highly acclaimed Melbourne chef Victor Liong and Singaporean chef de cuisine, Sujatha Asokan.

The grand finale was at Florette at Pan Pacific Orchard. Their custom-made Florosé is a complex cocktail of floral notes and smoky depth. But let's talk about the setting – the panoramic city views from this rooftop bar are spectacular. It's easily one of the best spots on Orchard Road for a sundowner. The bar's decor is a standout, exhibiting luxury and sophistication that perfectly complements the innovative cocktails. Led by bar manager Leslie Kuzmenko, Florette's all-female team brings a unique energy to the space, creating a refined and welcoming atmosphere.

What struck me most about this cocktail bar crawl was how seamlessly it integrated into the after-work vibe of Orchard Road. I found each bar buzzing with a mix of office warriors unwinding and tourists treating themselves. Despite the energy, none of the venues felt overcrowded – there was always a spot at the bar or a cozy table to be found.

The service? Impeccable. These are some of Singapore's top bars, which shows in every interaction. From Mike's passion at Ginger.Lily to the attentive staff at Atelier, you're in good hands all along the route.

'ORBar on A Great Street' celebrates Singapore's vibrant cocktail scene. At roughly half the price you'd usually pay for these premium concoctions, it's an absolute steal. Whether you're a local looking to spice up your after-work routine or a visitor wanting to experience Singapore's nightlife, this passport is your golden ticket. So, gather your friends, plan your route, make reservations, and get ready to sip your way through Orchard Road. With a perfect blend of value, variety, and vibrant atmospheres, ORBar is set to be the hottest ticket in town this holiday season. Cheers to that!
