Baker X, a well-known artisanal bakery, is celebrating its third year with a new series titled "Around the World in Bakes and Sweets." This event will feature four excellent home bakers who will demonstrate a variety of different confections, taking attendees on a pleasant trip through worldwide dessert customs. Love For Wagashi, Pastry Haven by Helen, Pastories, and Cassia Canelés are among the featured bakeries, each with their own distinct flavours and styles to share.

Love For Wagashi runs from June 2 to August 18, 2024, and is the series' first instalment. Dionne Ho established this home-based confectionery dedicated to the Japanese Nerikiri Wagashi. Dionne found these exquisite Japanese sweets in 2020 and, motivated by her enthusiasm and creativity, spent months honing her recipes before introducing them to Singapore. Her commitment to using only the best ingredients guarantees that each piece of Wagashi is a work of art.

Visitors to Baker X can sample a range of Love For Wagashi dishes. The Nerikiri, which starts at $7, is available in a changing range of seasonal designs that reflect Japanese aesthetics and culinary traditions. Another popular option is the Daifuku, which costs between $5 and $8 and is famed for its soft, chewy texture and sweet filling. The Yuzu Sake Anmitsu, priced at $8.50 ($6.50 for non-alcoholic), blends zesty yuzu with sake and traditional Japanese sweets for a pleasant treat. The Dango, priced at $5.80, is available in two delicious flavours: kinako, a roasted soybean flour, and matcha, a quality Japanese green tea.

In honour of their third anniversary, Love For Wagashi releases the Hakoniwa, a painstakingly constructed dessert priced at $12. New matcha-flavoured delicacies, such as Matcha Daifuku ($6), Matcha Parfait ($12), and Matcha Anmitsu ($8), will also be featured, all created with fine matcha supplied directly from the Kyoto and Mie prefectures.

The Raindrop Cake, a transparent, jelly-like treat priced at $6, comes with kinako and kuromitsu, a traditional Japanese black sugar syrup. Visitors looking for something different can sample this one-of-a-kind treat.
