Discover a curated selection of South Africa's finest wines from Newton Johnson Family Vineyards, Raats Family Wines, and Groot Constantia, one of the oldest wineries established in 1685.
Expertly crafted by Executive Chef Andrea de Paola and Head Chef Daniele La Rocca, this enchanting four-course dinner will take one on a sensory journey, with each course perfectly paired with wine from the featured wineries. Distinguished representatives from each winery will also share insights into their vineyards' history and winemaking processes at the dinner.
Commence the evening with the luscious and crisp 2021 Newton Johnson Family Chardonnay, accompanied by a selection of snacks. Founded in 1995, the award-winning winery is committed to producing small batches of premium quality wines that reflect the unique terroir of the picturesque Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. The Spanner Crab, Oscietra Caviar, Celery, Green Apple and Basil is paired with the elegant and refreshing 2022 Raats Original Chenin Blanc, produced using the finest Chenin Blanc grapes from Stellenbosch region.
The earthy and refined 2021 Newton Johnson Family Pinot Noir highlights aromas of cherry, raspberry and spice, perfectly paired with Altro Zafferano's Guinea Fowl Tortelloni, Pistachio, and Spiced Pumpkin. Satiate in the succulent Lamb Saddle, Sunchoke, and Maitake Mushroom, coupled with 2018 Groot Constantia Gouverneurs Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Blend and 2020 Raats Family Cabernet Franc. The former flagship wine boasts a unique blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot grapes from Constantia Valley, while the latter exhibits intense aromas of blackcurrants and violets, intertwined with a soft hint of tobacco.
Round up the dinner with the Valrhona Ganache, Wild Strawberries and Feuilletine and Petit four, complemented by the 2017 Groot Constantia Grand Constance. With a long history dating back to the 18th century, the sweet amber wine is rich and velvety, with soft hints of dried apricots, figs and caramel.
