Celebrate Yakiniku Day at The Gyu Bar

In 1993, 29 August was officially decreed Yakiniku Day. The product of fun Japanese numerical wordplay, the day is dedicated to observing a love of Japanese barbecue – tender meats and smoky goodness, accompanied by fresh produce and flavourful sauces.

To commemorate this occasion, beef specialist The Gyu Bar unveils an exclusive menu spotlighting the finest wagyu served masterfully grilled and in other iterations. Available from 17 August to 17 September 2023, the 6-Course Yakiniku Day Special Menu ($78++) presents guests with an indulgent succession of quality meat prepared with expertise and flair.

The feast begins with a signature – the Hokkaido Uni Wagyu Yukke Cone, a cone filled with sliced onions, beef tartare sourced from Kumamoto, and Hokkaido uni finished with a touch of sweet shoyu. A trio of seasonal Starters follow, whetting the appetite. Relish the A4 Hokkaido Roast Beef with Mizuna, a Chef Special - rump cut marinated in a special sauce, pan-seared, then cooked sous-vide to juicy delight and presented on a bed of crisp, refreshing greens.

The Gyu Bar Wagyu Yakiniku is the fourth course, featuring Hokkaido pork neck and three different umami-rich, succulent cuts of A5 Miyazaki Wagyu. The A5 Kagoshima Wagyu Ishiyaki Curry Rice is a hearty one-bowl dish of steamed Hokkaido rice topped with a luscious Japanese curry that is laden with minced wagyu, alongside a soft-boiled egg.

After a comforting Wagyu Consommé, the meal concludes on a sweet note with Dessert of Hokkaido milk pudding.

Elevate the experience with add-ons at special prices; enjoy the signature A5 Miyazaki Mini Sukiyaki at $25 (U.P. $35), or Premium Wagyu Yakiniku (A5 Kagoshima Sirloin and A5 Miyazaki Chateaubriand) at $38 (U.P. $65).
