Camp Caribbean, Singapore's first and only authentic Caribbean restaurant, has opened at Gourmet Park Kampong Bugis, providing a dynamic gastronomic escape led by Jamaican Head Chef Ricardo Allen. Chef Allen, who formerly served as head chef at Lime House, provides an appealing combination of classic Caribbean flavours and unique culinary flair to this pet-friendly riverfront haven.
Camp Caribbean, nestled amidst lush foliage along the Kallang River, provides a full island experience with rhythmic Caribbean music and a tasty meal. From Wednesday to Sunday, guests may indulge in a diverse selection of meals that represent the soul of Caribbean food. The menu blends Chef Allen's well-known favourites, such as Jerk Chicken and Oxtail with Spinners, with creative additions like BBQ Jerk Stingray with a spicy Pineapple Salsa.
One of the menu's highlights is the Jerk BBQ Pork Ribs. These supple ribs are marinated in a rich Jamaican jerk rub that includes allspice, thyme, Scotch bonnet peppers, nutmeg, and other aromatic spices before being grilled to smoky perfection. Another must-try is the Jamaican Patties, which are delicate, golden pastry pockets filled with spicy beef, veggies, or herbs seasoned with cumin and paprika. The Jam Rock Platter, which captures the essence of a Caribbean feast, delivers a sumptuous buffet of jerk chicken, stingray, pork ribs, rice & peas, fried plantains, coleslaw and corn ribs.
Vegetarians will be pleasantly surprised as well. Trinidad Doubles with Chickpea Curry, a cultural icon of Trinidad and Tobago created with bara bread and curried chickpeas, invite diners to indulge in a delectable flavour combination. Other plant-based dishes include Jerk Paneer Skewers, which have grilled paneer wrapped in a spicy jerk rub, and the hearty Jerk Cauliflower Steak, which comes with cauliflower rice and a refreshing tropical salad.
Camp Caribbean is more than just a restaurant; it's an island getaway that combines bold flavours, lively music, and friendly hospitality. With its scenic environment and unrivalled gastronomic offerings, it's the ideal place to unwind and savour the authentic flavours of the Caribbean right in the heart of Singapore.
