Who doesn’t love noodles? There is nothing better than getting your plates full with one of the best noodle dishes in the biggest food destination in the world. Singapore is the hot favourite spot for not only Wonton Mee and Hokkien Mee, but also Bak Chor Mee, which translates to minced meat noodles in the language of Teochew.

The places listed below have been guilty of leaving their customers completely incapacitated with their wholesome flavours and sizeable portions. Keep reading to find out more about the best Bak Chor Mee joints in the city of Singapore. Image Credit: Gimee Face Facebook Page

Xing Ji Rou Cuo Mian

xingji

Situated in the Bedok 85 marketplace, Xing Ji Rou Cuo Mian is one of the two go-to Bak Chor Mee stalls, apart from Seng Hiang Bak Chor Mee. The people at this stall prepare their noodles from scratch, and they are then marinated in a savoury-sweet broth- a perfect balance of flavours in my opinion. This place specializes in soupy noodles primarily but don’t worry if you’ve come for that crunch. Fried garlic chips are a perfect addition to the soupiness. Both these with the generous helping of meatballs makes for a meal that will leave you licking your knives and forks clean. Image Credit: Danielfooddiary.com

Li Yuan Mee Pok

Ah Li Mee Pok

Ramen and Bak Chor Mee? Sounds pretty damn good to me! Head over to Li Yuan Mee Pok for a taste of delicious noodles with a Japanese twist. Chef Naoji Kuribara has an enormous amount of experience with producing interesting creations which go beyond the traditional Bak Chor Mee dishes you will find elsewhere. You don’t want to miss out on the Char Siew bak chor mee which comes for a meagre $10. Piping hot miso spiked with umami or shoyu accompanied with fat, chunky pieces of chashu and meatballs makes this one an enjoyable, filling and economical choice. 58 Minced Meat Noodle

Armed with an experience of over 5 decades, 58 Minced Meat Noodle has been serving heavenly bowls of Bak Chor Mee while sitting quietly inside Taman Jurong Food Centre. Their take on Bak Chor Mee is just perfect: soft, slurpy noodles tossed around in the pan with copious amounts of chilli sauce that comes with a hint of sweetness. If you’re in the mood for soupy variants which help wash a little bit of the chunkiness, then definitely go for their pork broth. This one is fresh and flavourful, dipped in lip smacking pork liver with some cute button and shitake mushrooms on the side. Image Credit: 58 Minced Meat Noodle Facebook Page

Lai Heng Mushroom Minced Meat Mee

Lai Heng Mushroom Minced Meat Mee

Mouthwatering mushroom minced meat mee is a must have at this food joint. Their noodle bowls are pork party. The bowls come loaded with slices of pork, chunks of liver and fried lard toppled on labyrinthine noodles. It’s no surprise that this place is brimming with hordes of people fighting to get a table. Come early or be prepared to wait for at least a couple of hours before the queue thins up as people try to get their hands on mee pok and the mee kia. The one dish that goes unnoticed though is the mee tai mak which is quite a perfect combination of thin, lanky noodles in a juicy pork broth. Show your faces to the chefs at Gimme Face and get ready to treat yourself to hearty helpings of unconventional variations of traditional Bak Chor Mee dishes. Fiery hot Mala Spicy Pork Noodle comes with a dash of Sichuan-inspired flavours while the Spicy Volcano Mee Kia Soup lives up to its name as it leaves customers gulping down gallons of water after a rather fiery encounter. However, the Abalone Pork Noodle is the showstopper courtesy of the umami rich strands with hae bee sambal accompanied by one entire abalone. Image Credit: Gimee Face Facebook Page

Soon Heng Pork Noodles

Soon Heng Pork Noodles

This one is for all the soup lovers out there. Located inconspicuously inside a coffee shop, Soon Heng Pork Noodles is understated in its aesthetic but hits the spot with its creamy soupy noodles. SHPN is best known for its homely flavours and modest prices. For as low as $4, you can call for the milky broth overflowing with chunks of fat meatballs, handmade wontons and minced meat. Be sure to go on an empty stomach; you might not be able to stop eating once you start. Ah the gluttony! Image Credit: Misstamchiak.com

XO Minced Meat Noodles

Crispy Bean Curd Skin

You might not believe that this place serves noodles if you were to just look at one of their bowls. This is because of the smorgasbord of ingredients that grace the noodles hidden underneath. Newton Food Centre is the house of this food stall named after its signature dish. For a nominal price of $5, you can get a bowl full of all the ingredients that you can possibly think of. We’re talking sliced pork, fishcakes, crispy beancurd skin, fat fishballs and chunky Fuzhou fishballs. The myriad of ingredients sits atop a load of mee kia- it’s quite a portion. Spice up your meal with a strong chilli sting for a perfectly piquant experience. Image Credit: Hungrygowhere.com

The guy who accepted my pre-order via WhatsApp at Soon Heng Pork Noodles was very responsive & helpful. The young chap who cooked my noodles was very friendly and polite and the pork noodles were simply delicious. Will definitely visit again soon.
