There’s a photo in my camera roll that I keep reopening. I’m standing before a nine-metre wall of electric blue light, the 67 on Scotts logo scrawled across it like an elite school student’s signature on a very expensive cheque. I’m in a little black dress, holding a Zalto glass of something pale and cold, and looking far too pleased with myself.

I had arrived at the ground floor of Shaw Centre for the press preview with the cautious optimism Orchard Road openings tend to inspire. Let’s be honest: the precinct has spent much of the past decade in a complicated relationship with its own relevance. High-end retail, certainly. Cinemas, always. But the sense of a neighbourhood that invites you to linger and let an evening unfold across the tarmac? That has not been Orchard’s strength — until now. Here’s why this moment matters.

So when the invite arrived from the 67 Pall Mall Singapore team for its newest street-level concept, I was curious. Trading its usual penthouse perch on the 27th floor for the pavement was a gamble, but a carefully calculated one.

The reason becomes clearer when you look at the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s master planning. The government’s Orchard Road Rejuvenation Initiative is designed to move beyond the old model of towering, inward-looking mega-malls, with about $740 million in tourism funding supporting retail and nighttime programming that spills onto the streets.

With more than 1,000 new private homes planned for the nearby Paterson area, Orchard is also trying to shed its transient tourist identity and become a living, breathing neighbourhood again. By planting its flag at street level rather than behind a private elevator, 67 on Scotts is not merely opening a restaurant or bar; it is front-running the state’s multimillion-dollar bet on a pedestrian renaissance.

The pedigree is formidable. 67 Pall Mall launched in London in 2015 as a private members’ club built around an extraordinary wine collection, quickly becoming a global hub for oenophiles. Singapore’s own iteration opened in the Shaw Centre penthouse, a rarefied, members-only sanctuary of St James’s sophistication and soaring wine towers. The upstairs club remains exclusive to members only. What has opened downstairs at street level is something different: the same philosophy, with the velvet rope quietly folded away.

Spanning 6,700 square feet across two levels, the public-facing venue comprises The Gallery on the ground floor and The Atelier above. The Gallery is a street-facing powerhouse designed for luxury brand activations, high-end product launches, and media showcases. It seats 60 guests or accommodates more than 100 standing. Upstairs, The Atelier offers a more intimate setting for private dinners and masterclasses, with space for up to 150 standing guests. Both spaces share a sleek, considered aesthetic: warm neutrals, dark oak, and precise lighting that makes everyone look luminous on camera.

The undisputed centrepiece and the feature currently exciting corporate event planners and brand directors is the massive LED wall. With an ultra-crisp P1.25-pixel pitch, it is one of the largest indoor screens of its kind in Singapore, delivering flawless visual clarity even from just a few feet away.

It makes sense that Porsche Singapore chose the space for a week-long showcase of two iconic sports cars as one of the venue’s debut brand activations. The engineering precision of a Porsche set against a fully customisable, high-definition digital backdrop feels seamless. The venue does not simply host events; it gives them structure.

This is exactly what Orchard Road needs. The Singapore Tourism Board’s rejuvenation push calls for experiential art, nighttime programming, and cultural energy that keeps foot traffic alive past 9 PM. Between the upcoming pop-up corridors near Ngee Ann City and the new Grange Road events space, the state is urging operators to think beyond the retail box.

On the plate, Head Chef Balaji Vijayachandran delivers a Mediterranean-inflected menu designed to complement the wine programme. The Hokkaido Scallop and Ocean Trout Tartare arrives finely diced, with the saline pop of ikura set against smooth avocado and crisp kombu. The Artichoke Salad presents the ingredient in four textures puréed, grilled, pickled, and crisped showing the kitchens culinary prowess.

The Laksa Bouillabaisse is the clear talking point. It is both an act of audacity and one of the smartest menu additions in Singapore this year. The rich, spiced laksa broth carries the prawn and rock fish beautifully, while confit cherry tomatoes cut through the heat with a needed hit of sweetness.

The Organic Yellow Chicken with morel mushrooms, Vin Jaune, and lemon mash is a more classical, deeply comforting plate, with a wine pairing that feels written into the sauce itself. For the finale, the Amalfi Coast Lemon Meringue Pie offers a bright, zesty finish that cleanses the palate without biting.

Curated by Assistant Head Sommelier Yong Yi Ying, the wine programme favours exploration over pretension. The line-up includes rotating tasting flights and a strong capsule of 67 wines by the glass. Crucially, “Sommelier’s Hour” runs on weekdays from 4 PM to 7 PM, offering the public five hand-picked wines at member pricing.

On Tuesdays, the “Blind Dates” activation invites guests to test their palates with a blind flight of three wines for a chance to win a prize. The towering wall of bottles behind the bar is not a prop; it is fully accessible. For existing 67 Pall Mall members, the perks remain: access to the “Black Book” list of rare vintages and roughly 30% lower bottle pricing.

For a weekend indulgence, the “67 Weekend” offering pairs two glasses of Champagne with freshly shucked oysters and caviar-topped Wagyu tataki brioche for $67++ on Saturdays and Sundays. It is the kind of midday proposition Orchard Road has long needed.

With a dedicated music programme launching later in July 2026 to shift the room from afternoon aperitivos to late-night lounge sets, the venue’s true scale will soon be tested. “The Summer Party: Soleil” on 11 July 2026 will serve as a multi-level takeover across both the private club and public spaces.

Standing in that blue light, what struck me the most was how the world passed by while I sipped on unique curated pours, bedazzled by the crisp LED screen.
